Holmes, of Burlington, Ontario, is one of the most prolific offensive and defensive first baseman in Marietta baseball history. Holmes had 203 career RBI’s which ranks second and 911 career putouts which ranks fifth.
He was honored as the Academic Player of the Year in 1989 and was also an Academic All-American in 1988. He earned four letters at Marietta College and was a second team All-American in 1988 and first team All-American in 1989.
He is tied for the single game records of at bats with seven and putouts with 18. He was drafted and signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1989. He had brief stints with for different minor league teams.
“I’m thrilled to be able to join such a great group of people,” Holmes said. “I played with some of the greatest players and to join them is an amazing feeling. I’m just really looking forward to coming back.”
Holmes is a Financial Consultant for Merrill Lynch, and also sits on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Assessment and Treatment Center in Burlington. Holmes and his wife, Anna, have one daughter.
