Hall of Fame
Frank Rainy Sutton, a 1915 graduate, played football, basketball and baseball at Marietta College, earning 10 letters and all-state recognition in football in 1915. He was selected by Don Drumm as one of the college's all-time great football players. Following graduation, Sutton went on to coaching, earning his greatest fame in his 33 years at Marietta High School as a football and basketball coach. Sutton was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1972, and the Marietta Senior High School gymnasium is named in his honor. He now resides in Lowell.
