Gladstone , winner of the Way-Weigelt Award, captured a total of six records in both soccer and baseball before his graduation from Marietta in 1978.  As a four year letterman in each sport he was captain of the baseball team his junior and senior years and of the soccer team as a senior.  His records were for most stolen bases and most walks drawn in baseball, season soccer records for most goals and most assists, and career soccer records for most points and most goals.  Abbey was also named soccer’s Most Valuable Player his senior year.

Abbey is a Vice President/Portfolio Manager at Smith, Barney, Harris, Upham and Company.  He and his wife, Barbara, live in Long Beach, New York with their son, Jon.
