Hall of Fame
Carl Wolfe, '63, is the third most prolific point-maker in 81 years of MC basketball. His 1,524 tallies between 1958-63 (less 1961-62, out with illness), put him only one hot night behind No. 2Mitch Miracle (1,558, 1975-79) and 164 under the all-time leading sorcerer, Buzzy Davis (1,688 in 83 games, 1951-55).
Carl was a starter from the beginning under Bill Whetsell. Bill retired a year later, so Carl's junior and senior season were for Don Kelley. He was best known for his quick-release jumpers. (Whetsell says he had the quickest shot of anybody he coached). He was named to the second team all-Ohio Conference in 1959-60 and the next year was put on the first team, to which he added an honorable mention Small-College All-American.
Carl presently coaches varsity basketball at Waverly (O.) High School.
