Jim Jordan, '52. Jim Jordan was one of Marietta College's finest athletes right after World War II. A two-time All-OAC tackle, he lettered three times in football and captained the 1951 eleven. In baseball he won inclusion on Don Drumm's all-time great athlete list as a first basemen.
Prior to entering Marietta in 1948, Jim spent three years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in 1946 signed a contract with the Boston Red Sox. He played several summers in the Maine-New Brunswick League until an arm injury shortened his career.
Following graduation from Marietta, Jim entered upon a highly successful 29-year tenure as head baseball coach at Marietta High School. He won over 400 games and collected five Central Ohio League titles along the way. He was voted district and league coach-of-the-year several times and has been inducted into the Ohio Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame.
