Finke served as the Pioneersí team captain his senior season and earned a pair of varsity letters playing for legendary coach Don Schaly. Finke wasted little time making his mark on the program smacking the game winning home run in the NCAA Regional Championship game his freshman season.

Finke earned first team All-Region and first team All-OAC honors at first base as a junior and as a designated hitter his senior season. Finke capped his career with first team All-American honors at designated hitter in 1985. Always clutch in the postseason, Finke was named to the 1985 NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team.

During his four years in the pinstripes, the Pioneers were the most dominant team in NCAA Division III. Marietta won the 1984 OAC Championship, four straight NCAA Regional titles and the 1983 NCAA National Championship. Marietta also finished as the national runner-up in 1984 and 1985 and was third in the nation in 1982.

Finke graduated from Marietta College in 1985 with a degree in Management. He is currently employed by the Barber National Institute as the associate director of workplace safety.

Finke and his wife Kathleen live in Erie, Pennsylvania and are the parents of John and Lindsay Finke.
