Hall of Fame
VanVoorhis, of Hiram, Ohio, made his mark as a Dad Vail champion coxswain in 1963 and as the captain his senior season.
"I am honored to be inducted in such a select group," VanVoorhis said. "This is another honor to keep my life inspired."
VanVoorhis is accustomed to inspiring others also. In 1995, he showed his appreciation to Marietta College when he made the lead gift of $150,000 to the Crew Endowment. The donation has allowed one of the nation's top crew programs to maintain some of the best rowing equipment.
VanVoorhis, who is a member of the MC Athletic Founders Board, is the retired president and CEO of Funtime Parks, Inc. Among Dale's occupational honors are CPA, Board of Directors for International Association of Amusement Parks and Board of Visitors at Hiram College. He is also on the board of Trustees for the Church of Aurora and a member of the Portage County Board of Education.
Dale and his wife, Bonnie, have four children, Dr. Kathryn Mayerson, Timothy VanVoorhis, Kress VanVoorhis and Michael VanVoorhis.
