Bown, a two-time All-America defensive back, suited up for the football team from 1990-93. The four-year starter earned All-OAC honorable mention as both a freshman and sophomore. He then garnered All-OAC first team and All-America recognition as both a junior and senior. Bown, who was a captain in 1992 and 1993, remains the only Pioneer to ever receive the OAC’ Lee Tressel Award, which goes to the top defensive back in the league. He accomplished this feat in 1993.
Bown still holds Marietta’s single-game record for both punt returns (7) and punt return yards (152). He also set an OAC record when he returned two punts for a touchdown in a game against Muskingum. Bown sits second in career interceptions (15) and third in both career interception return yards (200) and career punt return yards (618).
Bown lives with his wife Pamela and their children, Nathan, Natalie and Nicole, in North Huntingdon, Pa. He is the Director of Educational Services for the National Network of Digital Schools.
