Cynthia Boland played four years of softball for current Pioneer head coach Jeanne Arbuckle earning three varsity letters. Boland helped lead the Pioneers to the school’s only Ohio Athletic Conference Championship in 1996 and first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. She also played one year of basketball and one season of soccer.
Boland wasted no time in becoming a key player for the Pioneers earning second team All-OAC honors as a catcher her freshman season. She transitioned to the outfield and garnered first team honors as a junior and second team honors as a senior.
During her final two seasons in the Navy Blue and White, Boland led the Pioneers to back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in program history. Marietta earned the top seed in the OAC Tournament both seasons, winning the crown in 1996.
Boland took home first team All-Region honors as a junior and capped her career with as a third team All-Region honoree. She finished her playing career with several Pioneer records including career batting average (.388) and career sacrifices (44), which are both still Marietta records today. She also still holds the MC record for hits in a game with five.
Boland graduated from Marietta with a degree in Accounting. She and her husband Hans have a son, Cameron, and two daughters, Allison and Kate.
