Josh Streit, a four-year letterman, was a member of the baseball team from 1996-99. Widely considered one of the best catchers to ever wear the pinstripes, Streit was named the Division III National Defensive Player of the Year in 1999. His name appears in virtually every top-five offensive record list at Marietta and in the Ohio Athletic Conference. He holds the career record in the conference with 60 doubles and ranks in the top-five in runs batted in, home runs, total bases and walks drawn. He earned all-conference honors three times including the Jack Rafeld Player of the Year Award in 1998 and 1999. Streit was also a three-time all-region selection and was a first team All-American as a junior and senior. He led the Pioneers to four straight OAC titles and a pair of Mideast Regional championships. He was a team captain and the Way-Weigelt Award winner as a senior.
Streit, who graduated with a degree in sports medicine, signed a professional contract with the Chillicothe Paints of the Frontier League. After ending his playing career, Streit went to work for See The Trainer in Columbus. He is currently an account executive in the Diagnostic Healthcare Division of Nuance Communications; Inc. Streit lives in Plain City, Ohio with his wife Lindsay and three daughters Eliza, Calla and Finley.
