Brdicka, of Norwood, Mass., was Marietta College’s first women’s basketball player to score 1,000 points in a career. She finished with 1,109 points, which is third highest at Marietta College and 36th in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

She was named second team all-conference her junior and senior seasons. In her junior year, the Pioneers went 14-10 and then improved to 16-11 her senior season.

Brdicka was the captain on her senior year team. She still has fond memories of her days at Marietta College.

“It was absolutely fun,” she said. “My teammates are still some of my greatest friends. We were competitive, but we were also having a lot of fun.

”Brdicka is looking forward to the Hall of Fame ceremony as she expects a great number of her family members to attend the special event.

“This is quite an honor,” she said. “I’m surprised that so many people from my family want to go to the ceremony. My father drove all over Ohio to watch my games, so I knew he would want to be there. But to have my whole family there will be special.”

She is the Director of Recreation at the Ellis Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Brenda and her husband, Mark Hoover, have one son.
