Huffman earned three varsity letters in baseball after transferring to Marietta from Ohio University. He was a two-time All-American earning second team honors as a junior and first team accolades his senior year.

Huffman earned All-Region recognition in each of his three seasons in the pinstripes. He was an honorable mention selection in 1990 and was a first team honoree following his junior and senior seasons. He was also a two-time first team All-OAC selection.

A co-captain his senior year, Huffman capped his career by earning Most valuable Player honors at the 1992 Mideast Regional and was named the Way-Weigelt Award winner as well. He helped the Pioneers win three straight OAC Tournament championships leading to three NCAA Mideast Regional appearances and two trips to the NCAA Division III World Series.

Huffman earned a bachelor's degree in Management from Marietta College in 1992. He has worked as a process engineer for Orion Engineered Carbons in Belpre, Ohio for 24 years. Huffman and his wife Laurene, a 1991 Marietta College graduate, have five children; 2018 Marietta graduate Elizabeth, Abigael, Sydney, Jude and Henry.
