Schmucker earned four varsity letters while playing on the gridiron for the Pioneers. Schmucker was named first team All-OAC twice (1983 and 1985) and second team All-OAC once (1984). He was the captain of the 1985 team and was named Academic All-OAC. Schmucker also received MC’s Clyde A. Lamb award in 1985.
Schmucker was the annual leader in many categories during his time on the football field for the Pioneers. As a freshman in 1982 he led the team in all-purpose yards with 1,354. He repeated this feat as a sophomore collecting 1,112 yards.
Schmucker was a dangerous weapon when he had the ball in his hands. He is the Pioneers’ single season leader with 45 punt returns in 1985. Schmucker is ranked third all-time in punt returns (72) and kickoff returns (54). He also holds fifth place in kickoff return yards (994).
Schmucker, a native of East Canton, works for an oil company and lives in Broken Arrow, Okla. He and his wife, the former Renee Presley ‘86, have one daughter, Brittany (11).
