Strotbeck, a three year letterman in crew and  a 1979 graduate, is a thirteen-time U.S. NATIONAL rowing champion and a member of the USA National Team from 1983-1988. According to legendary MC Coach Ralph Lindamood, "John ranks as one of the top owners that I've ever taught." A Dad Vail winner with the Freshman Eight in 1976 and a Finalist the following three seasons, John's Varsity Eight won The MidAmerican Regatta three consecutive years and was recognized by the Lindamood as his "fastest eight ever."

Since leaving Marietta, his associate with sports has taken him to nearly every corner f the world. In 1983, he was in a four man crew that won silver in the medal in the Pan-Am Games. A year later, he teamed with Dave DeHuff to form a pair that finished sixth in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles. In 1986, there was a second place finish at The Goodwill Games in Moscow; a gold medal in the Pan-Am Games in '87 and runner-up finish in the pair competition at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.

John is founder and president of Boathouse Sports, a business that in just six years has become a primary manufacturing and major supplier to major college athletic teams that employs 55 people. He and his wife, Stephanie, live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ad are expecting their first child in March, 1992.
