Thomas earned three varsity letters in both basketball and field hockey at Marietta after transferring from Ohio Dominican as a sophomore.

Thomas was a captain for two years on the basketball team and she was among the team leaders in rebounding and assists. She was also a dependable free-throw shooter. In field hockey, Thomas, a defender, was also a two-year captain. While at
Marietta, she helped start the slow-pitch softball team, although it did not become a varsity sport until after she graduated.

Outside of athletics, Thomas was an active member of the Tri Sigma sorority, the Athletic Advisory Committee, Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Women’s Athletic Association.


Upon graduation, Thomas, a petroleum engineering major, earned a Jurist Doctorate from the South Texas College of Law. Over the last 25 years, Thomas has accumulated a diversified background in the gas and oil industry, including 10 years working with energy policy, regulations and research in
Washington, D.C.

Thomas currently works as a court appointed mediator and contracts consultant in her hometown of
Marietta. She is a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic School Board and Marietta Youth Soccer board. Thomas and her husband, Ron Tomasch, have two children, Yogi (7) and Natalie (5).
