WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Marietta College head golf coach
Tom Arison was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golf Coach of the Year Monday (May 19) in voting by the league's men's golf coaches. This is the first time Arison earned this honor on the men's golf side. He had previously been named women's golf co-coach of the year back in 2018.
Arison, who has been at the helm of the Pioneer golf program since its relaunch back in 2018, guided the Pioneers this season to one first place finish, three second place finishes, and a record of 80-43-1.
"An incredible honor to be selected by my peers as Coach of the Year in such a competitive conference," Arison said. "While our final standing didn't reflect the heights we reached this season, I couldn't be more impressed by my team for the record-breaking year we had. This award is a direct reflection of their resilience, growth and determination they showed all season, and I do not receive this award without them.
Arison's squad played strong, consistent golf throughout the year and were always within striking distance to win going into the final day of the tournaments played. The Pioneers claimed one tournament trophy as they won the Ohio Northern Jimmy Hanlin Collegiate Invitational back in April, finishing first out of nine teams in the 36-hole tournament.
Earlier this month, the Pioneers finished the season in seventh place at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship. Sophomore
Zach Huscusson (Clinton, Ohio/Northwest) tied for tenth place with a score of 223, earning him All-OAC honors.
