MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's tennis team lost to Baldwin Wallace University by the score of 8-1 Saturday (April 8) afternoon. The Pioneers fall to 0-14 overall and 0-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Baldwin Wallace improves to 5-8 on the season and 1-2 in the OAC.
The Yellow Jackets picked up a pair of quick 8-0 wins in the bottom two doubles matches. Claire Watts and Emily Dahnert downed
Sarina Singh () and
Mandee Young (Poca, W.Va./Poca) at No. 2, while Kelly Pesjura and Shannon Finkenthal beat
Erin Rogers (Alliance, Ohio/Marlington) and
Spenser Jackson (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview Heights) at No. 3.
In the No. 1 doubles match, the Pioneer duo of
Carey Becker (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) and
Erin Warvell (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) battled but dropped a close 8-6 decision to Imani Robinson and Liz Radkiewicz.
Becker turned the tables on Robinson in the No. 1 singles match posting a 6-3, 6-1 win for Marietta's lone team point of the afternoon.
Watts blanked Singh at No. 2, 6-0 and 6-0. At No. 3, Radkiewicz topped Warvell, 6-4 and 6-2.
Peskura and Dahnert each posted 6-0, 6-0 wins at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. Peskura beat Young and Dahnert dispatched Jackson. In the No. 6 match, Hayley Geronimo beat
Jorden Stuart (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne), 6-1 and 6-0.
