WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Marietta College senior
Isabela Paixao (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) earned a spot on the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Women's Tennis Team, announced on Friday (May 11) morning by the league office. After putting together a strong season, Paixao was named to the first team.
Paixao, a graduate student transfer from Ferris State University, is the first Pioneer to make the All-OAC team since Caroline Becker did it back in 2017. The last time Marietta placed a player on the All-OAC first team was in 2009 when Amanda Carraher accomplished the feat. Carraher was a four-time first team All-OAC honoree and is member of the MC Athletic Hall of Fame.
Paixao won 9 of 11 singles matches this season, all in straight sets. She only experienced one conference loss and it was to Erin Storrer, the reigning three-time OAC Player of the year. Paixao actually won the first set of the matchup, but fell in the second and in the tiebreaking set.
In doubles competition, Paixao and her doubles partner
Ryah Haidar (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Southview) won 7 of 11 matches. They only lost to Ohio Northern and Otterbein in OAC competition.
Marietta finished the season with a record of 3-11 overall and 2-5 in OAC play.
