Box ScoreMARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College dropped a 9-0 decision to Otterbein University Wednesday (April 2) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference women's tennis action. The Pioneers move to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in the OAC, while Otterbein improves to 11-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference matches.
The Cardinals led 3-0 after doubles play. Sammi Kruger and Julie Stroyne took the No. 1 match against
Carey Becker (Cincinnati/Walnut Hills) and
Mollee Brown (Fairmont, W.Va./East Fairmont), 8-0. Emma Krummel and Adrien Leatherwood were 8-2 winners over
Kelsey Jeffrey (The Plains/Athens) and
Alex Seals (Marysville, Ind./New Washington) at No. 2, while Emily Harper and Kerigan McNamara posted an 8-2 decision at No. 3 against
Lauren Bush (Kent/Theodore Roosevelt) and
Natalie Turner (Marysville/Marysville).
Otterbein swept the six singles matches in straight sets. Stroyne downed
Beth Malony (Audubon, N.J./Audubon ) at No. 1, 6-0 and 6-0. Kruger posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 over Becker, while Krummel beat Turner at No. 3, 6-0 and 6-1.
At No. 4 singles, Leatherwood defeated Brown, 6-0 and 6-1. Jeffrey fell to Rylie Markle at No. 5 by the score of 6-0 and 6-0. Megan Locke completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Bush at No. 6.
