Box ScoreMARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to John Carroll University Saturday (April 26) to close out the regular season. The Pioneers fall to 6-13 overall and 2-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. John Carroll is currently 9-9 on the season and 5-3 in the OAC.
Marietta will be the No. 7 seed in the OAC Tournament. The Pioneers travel to second-seeded Ohio Northern University for the first round on Tuesday (April 29). Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
The Blue Streaks swept all three doubles to start the match. Catherine Engel and Anna Stein took the No. 1 match against Beth Maloney and
Cate Gisser (Westlake/Magnificat), 8-0. At No. 2, Tracy Gibson and Katherine Devine were 8-2 winners over
Carey Becker (Cincinnati/Walnut Hills) and
Mollee Brown (Fairmont, W.Va./East Fairmont).
Kelsey Jeffrey (The Plains/Athens) and
Lauren Bush (Kent/Theodore Roosevelt) dropped the No. 3 match to Ivana Didovic and Kelsie Doran by an 8-3 margin.
John Carroll posted straight-set wins at all six singles positions. Engel downed Becker at No. 1, 6-0 and 6-2. Devine posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over
Natalie Turner (Marysville/Marysville) at No. 2, while Gibson beat Gisser at No. 3, 6-2 and 6-4.
At No. 4, Stein blanked Brown, 6-0 and 6-0. Jeffrey fell at No. 5 to Didovic, 6-2 and 6-0. Josephine Miller posted a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 6 over Bush.
