Women's Tennis edged by Capital University

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Capital University posted a 7-2 win over the Marietta College women's tennis team Saturday (April 6) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference action. Marietta is 1-7 overall and 1-1 in the OAC, while Capital moves to 5-5 on the season and 2-0 in the OAC.

Marietta's Natalie Turner (Marysville/Marysville) and Kelsey Jeffrey (The Plains/Athens) posted an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles over Capital's Jennie Schott and Collyn Weaver. The Pioneers' other point came from Mollee Brown (Fairmont, W.Va./East Fairmont) at No. 6 singles. Brown defeated Rebecca Hunt, 6-2, 2-6 and 11-9.

The Crusaders got wins and No2. 1 and 3 doubles for an early 2-1 lead. Ashlin Gable and Julia Lucas downed Cate Gisser (Westlake/Magnificat) and Alex Seals (Marysville, Ind./New Washington) in the top spot, 9-8 (7-4), while Elisabeth McLaughlin and Kathryn MacFarland posted an 8-4 win at No. 3 against Brown and Lauren Bush (Kent/Theodore Roosevelt).

Gable, Lucas and McLaughlin picked up wins for the Crusaders at the top three singles positions, respectively.
