2009: Chris had a breakout year at the plate, earning All-OAC first team and All-Mideast Region first team honors as a junior designated hitter in 2009. Beatty, who was also named Academic All-OAC, led the Etta Express with 12 home runs and 56 RBI while ranking second on the squad with a .373 batting average. In 44 games, the backup catcher added three triples and 10 doubles to go along with 42 runs scored. Beatty, a member of the 2009 OAC All-Tournament Team, paced the team with 18 multiple-RBI games and ranked second with 18 multiple-hit games. He had a career-high four hits, including a pair of home runs, against Otterbein. The second was a two-run walk off in the bottom of the ninth to send Marietta to the championship game of the OAC Tournament.

2008: Beatty saw action in 23 games as a sophomore in 2008. The right-handed hitter made seven starts at catcher and two more as the designated hitter. Beatty went 11-for-49 (.224) at the plate with two doubles, one home run and eight RBI. He had a season-high two hits on three different occasions. Beatty’s lone home run, a grand slam, came in a start against La Roche (Pa.).

2007: Beatty appeared in 22 games and made nine starts as a freshman in 2007. He had eight hits, including two doubles and a home run; the home run came at Otterbein.

Coach Brewer says: “Chris launched on to the scene in a big way in 2009. He has power to all fields and a nice approach in the batter’s box. Expect Chris to see more innings behind the plate in addition to being our primary designated hitter.”
