TIFFIN, Ohio — The Marietta College men's and women's track teams both sit in ninth place after the first day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Friday (Feb. 27). The Championship, being hosted by Heidelberg University, concludes on Saturday with events starting at 10:00 a.m.
Ohio Northern leads the women's team standings with 76 points. Mount Union is second with 64 points, followed by Baldwin Wallace (25), Capital (24.5), Otterbein (24), Wilmington (21), Muskingum (19), Heidelberg (11), and Marietta (8.5).
Sophi Merickel (Phoenix, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) and
Michaela Hieronymus (Letart, W.Va./Wahama) both turned in fifth place performances on Friday earning four points each. Merickel set a personal record in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:20.05. Hieronymus posted a time of 1:00.73 in the 400-meter dash.
Marietta's other scorer was
Eden Tepe (Oregonia, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) in the pole vault. Tepe earned a half point when she tied for eighth clearing 3.38 meters (11' 1").
Mount Union leads the men's standings with 83 points. Baldwin Wallace sits in second with 48.5 points, followed by Otterbein (35.5), Capital (28), Ohio Northern (28), Wilmington (22), Heidelberg (17), Muskingum (9), and Marietta (2).
Kallen Wilson (Logan, Ohio/Logan) accounted for Marietta's points with a seventh-place finish in the weight throw. He set a personal record with a heave of 15.67 meters (51' 5").
