Track and Field competes on day one of the OAC Outdoor Championships

NEW CONCORD, Ohio — The Marietta College men's and women's track team completed day one of the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship Thursday (Apr. 30) afternoon on the campus of Muskingum University. After the first day, the Marietta men are in eighth place, while the women are in ninth.
 
Ohio Northern leads the men's team standings with 77 points. Mount Union is second with 63 points, followed by Otterbein (43) points), Baldwin Wallace (41), Capital (14), Heidelberg (14), Wilmington (13), Marietta (8), and Muskingum 90).
 
The Polar Bear women are also in first place with 93 points after day one. Mount Union is second with 63 points, followed by Baldwin Wallace (45 points), Otterbein (32), Wilmington (18), Muskingum (7), Capital (5), Heidelberg (5), and Marietta (4).
 
Eden Tepe (Oregonia, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) was Marietta's top finisher on the first day of competition. Tepe placed fifth in the women's pole vault with a personal record height of 3.51 meters (11' 6.25") earning four team points. The men's pole vaulters had a good showing as well. Cael McCutcheon (Point Pleasant, W.Va./Point Pleasant) placed sixth with a height of 4.26 meters (13' 11.75"), while Cade Miracle (Galion, Ohio/Northmor) was eighth clearing 3.96 meters (12' 11.75").
 
Ryan House (New Concord, Ohio/John Glenn) turned in a seventh-place finish in the men's javelin throw. He posted a mark of 44.84 meters (147' 1"). Ethan Crock (Caldwell, Ohio/Caldwell) was eighth in the discus throw with a distance of 40.39 meters (132' 6").
 
Marietta's final team point came from the men's 4x800-meter relay team. The Pioneers finished eighth with a time of 8:38.76. Ryan Bertolino (Marlton, N.J./Paul VI) ran the lead leg, followed by Max King (Granville, Ohio/Granville), Aiden Keener (Orrville, Ohio/Smithville), and Aiden Westerman (Vincent, Ohio/Warren Local).
 
The Championship wraps up on Friday (May 1) with events starting at 11:00 a.m.
