STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — The Marietta College men's golf team won the Franciscan Fall Invitational Saturday (Sept. 27) afternoon at the Steubenville Country Club. The Pioneers finished eight strokes ahead of Saint Vincent.
Marietta finished with a team score of 303, 15 strokes over par. Saint Vincent was second with a score of 311, followed by Washington & Jefferson (312), Muskingum (313), Grove City (315), Geneva (332), and La Roche (347).
Grove City's Luke Gronbeck and Muskingum's David Link tied for medalist honors with even-par scores of 72.
Aidan Houghton (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) was Marietta's top finisher with a one-over-par, 73, good for a tie for third place.
Carson Moore (Belpre, Ohio/Belpre) carded a 74 to finish fifth.
Andrew Korner (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley) and Jeremiah tied for ninth with a round of 78.
Kelson McCurdy (Beverly, Ohio/Fort Frye) tied for 12th with a score of 79.
Marietta is back in action at the OAC Fall Preview on Saturday and Sunday (Oct. 11-12) at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette.
