PORT CLINTON, Ohio — The Marietta College men's golf team competed in the NCAA Division III Region V Showcase Monday and Tuesday (Oct. 20-21) at the Catawba Island Club. The Pioneers finished ninth out of 11 teams in the tournament.
 
Trine University won the team title with a two-round score of 613. Otterbein was second five strokes behind at 618. The remainder of the field included Calvin (627), Pitt-Greensburg (638), Mount Aloysius (638), Albion (640), Mount Union (644), Capital (645), Marietta (652), Penn State Altoona (663), and Pitt-Bradford (676).
 
Garrett James from Trine and Mount Aloysius's Josh Nicholl tied atop the leader board with 7-over-par, 141, on the par-72 course. Zach Huscusson (Clinton, Ohio/Northwest) led the Pioneers with a score of 158, tying for 14th place overall.
 
Aidan Houghton (Tolland, Conn./Tolland) tied for 31st after carding a two-day total of 163. Kelson McCurdy (Beverly, Ohio/Fort Frye) tied for 37th with a score of 165. Jeremiah Fizer (Chesapeake, Ohio/Fairland) shot a 166, tying for 39th place. Carson Moore (Belpre, Ohio/Belpre) and Andrew Korner (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley) placed in the top 50 with scores of 170 and 171, respectively.
 
Marietta will close out the fall portion of its schedule at the Polar Bear Classic hosted by Ohio Northern University at Traditions Golf Club in Kentucky on Monday (Nov. 3).
