Track and Field participates in the Muskingum Invitational

NEW CONCORD, Ohio — Marietta College competed in the Muskingum Invitational Track Meet Thursday (April 6). The meet will conclude on Friday with the final events in the women's heptathlon and men's decathlon.
 
West Liberty leads the men's team standings with 270 points. Muskingum is second with 119 points, followed by Wilmington (107.5 points), Marietta (70), Wheeling (32.5), and Otterbein (21).
 
West Liberty also leads the women's standings with 251 total points. Muskingum is second with 134 points, followed by Marietta (98 points), Wheeling (49), and Wilmington (43).
 
Five Pioneers posted event wins on Thursday. Lane Wilson (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) won the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.54. Emily Thompson (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) cleared 3.60 meters (11'9.75") to win the women's pole vault, while Emma Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) won the women's triple jump with a leap of 10.81 meters (35'5.75"). Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) took top honors in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.14 meters (151'4") and Isabelle Poling (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom Carroll) won the women's 5,000-meter run with a time of 20:57.06.
 
Wilson also helped lead the men's 4x400-meter relay team to a second-place finish. Elijah Kuklica (New Concord, Ohio/John Glenn) ran the lead leg, followed by Evan Kieffer (Cheswick, Pa./Fox Chapel Area), Wilson and Chase Stephen (Cambridge, Ohio/John Glenn). The Pioneers crossed the line in 3:31.53.
 
Fehrman placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 4.87 meters (15'11.75") and was eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.11 seconds. Huffman posted a mark of 10.89 meters (35'8.75") for third place in the shot put.
 
Michaela Hieronymus (Letart, W.Va./Wahama) and Mackenzie Moran (Tallmadge, Ohio/Tallmadge) placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 400-meter dash and 1,500-meter run. Hieronymus crossed the line in 1:04.47 in the 400m and Moran posted a time of 5:42.97 in the 1500m.
 
Hieronymus also turned in a sixth-place performance in the pole vault with a personal record height of 2.70 meters (8'10.25"). Alison Loase (Bethesda, Ohio/Union Local) was third in the pole vault with a height of 3>15 meters (10'4").
 
McKenna Hewitt (Daisytown, Pa./California Area) was third in the javelin throw and eighth in the shot put. Her mark in the javelin was 27.93 meters (91'8") and 8.49 meters (27'10.25") in the shot.
 
Elizabeth Schnegg (Clarington, Ohio/St. John Central) took second place in the javelin throw with a personal record distance of 28.18 meters (92'5"). Alexis Shreckengost and Savannah Flusche (Blacklick, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) were fifth in the shot put and discus throw, respectively. Shreckengost recorded a mark of 9.10 meters (29'10.25"). Flusche posted a throw of 32.95 meters (108'1").
 
Several Pioneer men posted personal records on Thursday. Wade Chuich (Marietta, Ohio/John Glenn) placed third in the shot put with a mark of 11.33 meters (37'2.25"). Landan Salgat was fourth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:40.98. Jack Hehr (Zanesville, Ohio/Tri-Valley) finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:57.75. Aaron Rohr (Mogadore, Ohio/Field) (18:02.88) and Clark Wilson (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) (18:37.60) were fifth and sixth in the 5000m, both personal best times. Elijah Kuklica (New Concord, Ohio/John Glenn) finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.93 seconds. Beau Priest (Dresden, Ohio/Tri-valley) and Jake Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) were fifth and sixth, respectively, in the discus throw with personal record marks of 37.65 meters (123'6") and 36.13 meters (118'6").
 
Jake  Priest also turned in a fifth-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 46.33 meters (152'0"), while Kuklica placed seventh in the 100-meter dash breaking the tape in 11.77 seconds.
 
Chase Stephen (Cambridge, Ohio/John Glenn) had a pair of eighth place finishes. He posted a time of 11.88 seconds in the 100m and 24.10 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Ryan House (New Concord, Ohio/John Glenn) was fifth in the shot put with a mark of 10.58 meters (34'8.5"). Kenneth Amos (Akron, Ohio/Buchtel) placed seventh in the shot with a distance of 9.90 meters (32'5.75"), while Gavin Cayton (McDermott, Ohio/Portsmouth Clay) was seventh in the high jump clearing 1.65 meters (5'5").
 
Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) leads the men's decathlon after the first five events. He has a total of 3,209 points after day one. Painter won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.87 seconds, the long jump with a leap of 6.71 meters, and the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.15 seconds. He was second in the high jump clearing 1.82 meters (5'11.5") and fourth in the shot put (9.69 meters (31'9.5").
 
The decathlon will finish on Friday with the 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw, and 1,500-meter run.
