Track and Field competes at Otterbein and Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Marietta College men's and women's track and field team competed in the Otterbein Twilight meet, while several athletes competed across town at the Ohio State Jesse Owens Classic Friday and Saturday (April 21-22).
 
The Pioneer women finished 10th overall at Otterbein, while the men tied for 16th. Cedarville won both team titles. Cedarville scored 129.25 points on the women's side with Ohio Wesleyan finishing second with 115 points and Otterbein third at 63.25 points. Marietta notched 19 points.
 
Cedarville's men scored 110 points with Otterbein placing second with 96 points and Capital taking third with 62.5 points. Marietta and Shawnee State tied with nine points.
 
Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) had Marietta's best finish of the meet with a second place showing in the hammer throw. Huffman's best mark was 49.00 meters (160'9").
 
The Pioneers had a pair of fourth place finishes. Alison Loase (Bethesda, Ohio/Union Local) took fourth in the pole vault clearing 3.38 meters (11'1"). On the track, Michaela Hieronymus (Letart, W.Va./Wahama) placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 27.82 seconds.
 
Elizabeth Schnegg (Clarington, Ohio/St. John Central) set a new personal record in the javelin throw with a mark of 29.10 meters (95'5"), good for eighth place.
 
Xavier Lamneck (Coshocton, Ohio/Ridgewood) led the Pioneer men with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles. Lamneck posted a time of 1:02.32, a new personal record.
 
Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) turned in a fourth place showing in the long jump at the Jesse Owens Classic. Painter's best jump covered 6.92 meters (22'8.5").
 
Ryan House (New Concord, Ohio/John Glenn) set a new personal record with a sixth-place finish in the javelin at Otterbein. House had a mark of 38.78 meters (127'2"). Beau Priest (Dresden, Ohio/Tri-valley) was eighth in the shot put with a distance of 12.53 meters (41'1.5").
 
Marietta will compete in the Ashland Alumni Open on Friday and Saturday (April 28-29). Events start at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
