Track and Field competes in the All-Ohio Championships

DELAWARE, Ohio — The Marietta College track and field team competed in the All-Ohio Championships Saturday (April 15) afternoon on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University. The Pioneer women placed seventh and the men were tenth.

Case Western won the women's team title with 111 points, followed by Ohio Wesleyan (109 points), Denison (104.5), Ohio Northern (97.5), Oberlin (76), Wooster (73.5), Marietta (49.5), Otterbein (45), Wilmington (30), Kenyon (29), Defiance (22), Muskingum (13), and John Carroll (10).

Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) and Emma Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) each scored in three events for the Pioneers. Huffman placed second in the discus with a mark of 38.71 meters and second in the hammer throw with a personal record distance of 49.84 meters. Huffman also placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 11.14 meters.

Fehrman placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 11.12 meters. She was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 4.87 meters. On the track, Fehrman set a new personal record in the 200-meter dash crossing the line in 26.53 seconds, good for sixth place.

Emily Thompson (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) recorded a second-place finish in the pole vault clearing 3.58 meters, while Alison Loase (Bethesda, Ohio/Union Local) tied for third with a height of 3.43 meters. McKenna Hewitt (Daisytown, Pa./California Area) turned in an eighth-place performance in the javelin throw with a mark of 28.69 meters.

Michaela Hieronymus (Letart, W.Va./Wahama) set a new personal record time in the 400-meter dash. Hieronymus posted a time of 1:02.88 to place fourth.

Denison won the men's team title with 153.5 points, followed by Case Western (132 points), Otterbein (95.5), Oberlin (63), Ohio Northern (61.5), Wooster (57), Wilmington (53), Ohio Wesleyan (41), Kenyon (37.5), Marietta (37), Defiance (17), Muskingum (17), and John Carroll (14).

Lane Wilson (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) had the lone event win for the Pioneers. Wilson won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:56.83.

Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) placed second in the long jump and triple jump. In the long jump, Painter posted a mark of 6.80 meters. His distance in the triple jump was 13.50 meters. Painter also placed seventh in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.42 seconds. He set a new personal record in the prelims with a time of 15.33 seconds.

Jake Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) finished fourth in the hammer throw with a heave of 53.80 meters. In the pole vault, Cael McCutcheon (Point Pleasant, W.Va./Point Pleasant) set a new personal record clearing a height of 3.90 meters to place eighth.

The Pioneers placed sixth in the 4x400-meters relay. Elijah Kuklica (New Concord, Ohio/John Glenn) ran the lead leg, followed by Evan Kieffer (Cheswick, Pa./Fox Chapel Area), Wilson and Painter. Marietta's time was 3:29.45.

Marietta travels to Westerville for the Otterbein Invitational on Friday (April 21).
