ADA, Ohio — Marietta College had several athletes compete in the Polar Bear Final Qualifier Track Meet hosted by Ohio Northern University Saturday (March 4).
Junior
Jake Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) highlighted the Pioneers' performances with a school record in the men's weight throw. Priest recorded a mark of 17.68 meters finishing third in the event. His distance broke the old Marietta College record of 17.35 meters set by Brian Pallini in 2017.
Seniors
Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) and
Lane Wilson (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) turned in third place showings in the triple jump and 800-meter run, respectively. Painter's best leap covered 13.51 meters, while Wilson posted a time of 1:56.56.
Painter competed in the first day of the heptathlon on Friday but withdrew from Saturday's final three events. On Friday, he placed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.33 seconds; first in the long jump (6.51 meters), fourth in the shot put (9.76 meters), and third in the high jump (1.77 meters).
In the women's pole vault, freshman
Emily Thompson (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) placed third with a height of 3.60 meters, while senior
Alison Loase (Bethesda, Ohio/Union Local) was seventh clearing 3.40 meters.
Sophomore
Emma Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 10.98 meters.
The Pioneers will now turn their attention to the outdoor season. Marietta opens the outdoor season at Muskingum on March 17.
