Track sweeps event wins on day one of Muskie Duals

NEW CONCORD, Ohio — Marietta College competed in the first day of the Muskie Duals on Friday (March 17) at Muskingum University. The men's and women's javelin and hammer throws were contested on Friday and the second day of the meet was canceled.
 
The Pioneers were off to a great start winning each of the first four events. Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) won the women's hammer throw with a mark of 47.01 meters (154'3"), the sixth-best mark in Division III so far this season. McKenna Hewitt (Daisytown, Pa./California Area) won the women's javelin throw with a personal record distance of 28.88 meters (94'9").
 
Jake Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) won the men's hammer throw with a distance of 48.01 meters (157'6"), the 12th-best mark in Division III this season. Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) won the men's javelin with a throw of 44.15 meters (144'10").
 
Marietta had six of the top eight finishers in the men's hammer throw. In addition to Priest, Reese Worship (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) placed fourth with a mark of 34.67 meters (113'9"), followed by Wade Chuich (Marietta, Ohio/John Glenn) 31.73 meters (104'1"), Beau Priest (Dresden, Ohio/Tri-valley) 26.69 meters (87'7"), Ryan House (New Concord, Ohio/John Glenn) 25.66 meters (84'2"), and Kenneth Amos (Akron, Ohio/Buchtel) 20.98 meters (68'10"). Chuich, Beau  Priest, House and Amos all set personal records.
 
House also finished sixth in the javelin with a personal record distance of 32.86 meters (107'10"). Beau  Priest was seventh with a persanl best mark of 29.40 meters (96'5"), while Amos placed eighth with a throw of 28.50 meters (93'6").
 
Huffman placed second in the women's javelin with a personal record distance of 28.24 meters (93'5"). Elizabeth Schnegg (Clarington, Ohio/St. John Central) was fourth with a throw of 26.32 meters (86'4") and Alexis Shreckengost placed seventh with a mark of 19.80 meters (64'11").
 
Savannah Flusche (Blacklick, Ohio/Gahanna Lincoln) took fourth in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 35.04 meters (114'11"). Hewitt was sixth with a personal record throw of 29.89 meters (98'1") and Shreckengost was seventh with a personal best mark of 29.14 meters (95'7").
 
Marietta returns to Muskingum for the Amy Adams Invitational on Friday and Saturday (March 24-25). Events start at 3:00 p.m. on Friday and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
