ALLIANCE, Ohio — Marietta College competed in the Jim Wuske Invitational track meet hosted by the University of Mount Union Saturday (Feb. 4) afternoon.
Emily Thompson (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) had the lone event win for the Pioneers. Thompson won the women's pole vault by clearing a height of 3.61 meters (11'10.25").
Jake Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) and
Lane Wilson (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) had the top two finishes for the Pioneer men. Priest took second place in the weight throw with a mark of 16.35 meters (53'8"), while Wilson finished third in the 800-meter run crossing the line in 1:58.32.
Marietta had three top ten runners in the men's 5,000-meter run: all three set new personal best times in the race.
Jack Hehr (Zanesville, Ohio/Tri-Valley) posted a time of 18:22.16 to finish sixth.
Clark Wilson (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) was eighth with a time of 19:01.96, while
Aaron Rohr (Mogadore, Ohio/Field) was ninth with a time of 19:15.51.
The Pioneer men had two other top ten finishers in the pole vault.
Luke Watt (Rayland, Ohio/St. Clairsville) placed ninth with a height of 4.06 meters (13'3.75") and
Brendan Bates (Lore City, Ohio) cleared a personal record height of 3.91 meters (12'10").
Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) set a personal best in the women's weight throw. She had a mark of 14.20 meters (46'7") to place fourth.
Savannah Flusche (Blacklick, Ohio/) was eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 13.10 meters (43'0").
Isabelle Poling (Lancaster, Ohio/Bloom Carroll) and
Emma Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) each turned in a fifth-place performance. Poling posted a time of 20:51.86 to place fifth in the 5,000-meter run, while Fehrman recorded a distance of 10.52 meters (34'6.25") to place fifth in the triple jump.
Marietta travels to Wittenberg University for the All-Ohio Championships next Saturday (Feb. 11). Events start at 12:00 p.m.
