ALLIANCE, Ohio — The Marietta College track and field team competed at the Raider Tune-Up Saturday (Feb. 18) afternoon. It was the Pioneers' final meet before the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championships.
"Things went pretty well today. We had lots of personal bests and several people made the finals," Marietta head coach
Jason Davis said. "I'm pleased with how we did today and I am looking forward to the OAC Championships next week."
The Pioneer women had five top-10 finishes led by a second place showing from
Emma Fehrman (Newark, Ohio/Licking Valley) in the triple jump. Fehrman recorded a leap of 10.51 meters (34'5.75") in her runner-up performance.
Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) placed fifth in the weight throw and ninth in the shot put. Her mark of 14.24 meters (46'9") in the weight throw was a new personal record. Huffman notched a distance of 11.42 meters (37'5.5") in the shot put.
A pair of Marietta's pole vaulters placed in the top-10.
Emily Thompson (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) finished third clearing a height of 3.62 meters (11'10.5"), while
Alison Loase (Bethesda, Ohio/Union Local) had a mark of 3.27 meters (10'8.75").
Addison Painter (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) had the top finish for the Pioneer men. He placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal record time of 8.45 seconds.
Elijah Kuklica (New Concord, Ohio/John Glenn) set a pair of personal records. He placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.84 seconds and was eighth in the 200-meters dash crossing the line in 23.88 seconds.
In the field events,
Jake Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) turned in a fifth-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 16.18 meters (53'1").
Gavin Cayton (McDermott, Ohio/Portsmouth Clay) and
Beau Priest (Dresden, Ohio/Tri-valley) each had a ninth place showing. Cayton cleared a personal best height of 1.74 meters (5'8.5") in the high jump, while Priest had a distance of 13.28 meters (44'2.75") in the shot put.
Marietta travels to Baldwin Wallace for the OAC Indoor Championships next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 24-25).
