MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's rowing team hosted St. Mary's College of Maryland and the club team from Ohio State University Saturday (April 9) morning.
"We had to adjust the race schedule due to the weather and some transportation issues with Ohio State," Marietta head coach
Abby Lord said. "We ended up racing the varsity eights on the 2,000-meter course and then did several 1,000-meter scrimmages."
In the varsity 8+ race on the Ohio River St. Mary's won with a time of 5:41.83, followed by Marietta (5:51.44), Ohio State (5:56.67) and St. Mary's 2V (6:12.97).
"We got in a solid 2k race despite a very strong tail current," Lord said. "The women raced a consistent piece against good competition. Every time we line up against crews, we gain valuable experience to take into the next race."
Marietta is back on the water next Saturday (April 16) at the Devil's Lake Invitational in Michigan.
