MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College women's rowing had two athletes named 2026 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athletes. Sophomores
Campbell Anne Friend (Leesburg, Ohio/Fairfield) and
Avery Kurman (Galloway, N.J./Atlantic County Insitute of Technology) each earned the academic honor for the first time in their careers.
To be eligible for National Scholar-Athlete recognition, student-athletes must satisfy all institutional and conference eligibility standards, must be in at least, their second year of eligibility, and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester or winter quarter.
Both rowers were on the Pioneers' varsity 8+ crew that went on to earn an eighth-place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championship and a fourth-place finish at the Dad Vail Regatta this spring. Kurman, a psychology major, rowed in the No. 1 seat and Friend, a geology major, rowed in the No. 2 seat.
