CHERRY HILL, N.J. — The Marietta College women's rowing team competed in the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference Championship Saturday (May 2). The Pioneers finished eighth overall in the varsity 8+ division.
Marietta finished fourth in the morning varsity 8+ heat. St. Mary's won the heat with a time of 7:24.043, followed by Stockton (7:30.469), Washington College (7:33.679), and Marietta (8:22.877).
The Pioneers advanced into the second final in the afternoon. Marietta placed second in the two-boat final. Franklin and Marshall (7:50.474) won with Marietta (8:25.122) crossing the line second.
A trio of Pioneers earned individual honors at the Championship.
Avery Kurman (Galloway, N.J./Atlantic County Insitute of Technology) was named second team All-MARC and Academic All-MARC.
Sarah Pettey (Fleming, Ohio/Warren) was named to the All-MARC novice team, while
Campbell Anne Friend (Leesburg, Ohio/Fairfield) was tabbed Academic All-MARC.
Marietta is back on the water for the Dad Vail Regatta on Friday and Saturday (May 8-9) in Cherry Hill, N.J.
