AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Marietta College had a pair of student-athletes named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Soccer team announced Thursday (April 22) morning.  Senior goalie Katie Conkle (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) and freshman defender Emma Diorio (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) each garnered Honorable Mention honors.

Head Coach Sean Kaighin said, "We're extremely proud of our young ladies who have been recognized by the OAC.  Katie and Emma are fantastic role models, both on and off the field, so they're very deserving of this award!"

Conkle is a first time All-OAC honoree, she made eight starts, and compiled a 2-3-2 record on the season.  Conkle made 60 saves, which ranked fifth in the OAC.  She also ranked fifth in the OAC in save percentage at 85.7 percent.

"Katie has had a brilliant career as goalkeeper for the Pioneers with nearly 4,500 minutes played!  She's also a two-time Player of the Week recipient, and finished her career with an .857 save percentage.  She's set the standard for future Pioneer goalkeepers to achieve," added Coach Kaighin.

Diorio is also a first time All-OAC honoree, in her first season with the Pioneers she made nine starts on the back line.  The defender was a key part of the two shutouts that Marietta pitched this season.  Diorio also scored the first goal of her career in the 2-2 draw with Heidelberg.

"Emma has impressed us since day one of stepping onto the field.  She's got a great IQ in the game, and she is a very consistent competitor.  We're excited to see what the future holds for her and hope she can continue to earn all-conference recognition throughout her career," concluded Coach Kaighin.

The Pioneers concluded the regular season with a record of 2-5-2 overall.
