Men’s Golf takes second at Cardinal Classic

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ohio – The Marietta College men's golf team took second place at the Cardinal Classic hosted at River Greens Golf Club.  The 27-hole event played par 108 and totaled 9,800 yards.     

"Another career day for Gage.  Proud of what h continues to accomplish in his final semester," said Head Coach Tom Arison.  "The men are a few shots away from the ultimate goal and they know they are close to being on top of the conference as a team."

The Pioneers placed second with a team score of 303, Marietta finished two shots behind first place Otterbein (301), and beat third place Ohio Northern by five strokes (308), and fourth place Capital by six shots (309).

Gage Herb (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) won his third tournament of the season so far, as he finished in a 27-hole total of 104, which was a round of four under par.  Herb won the event by three strokes over second place Ben Satterthwaite of Capital.  

Carson Fox (Parkersburg, WV/Ravenswood) and Clay Davis (Coshocton, Ohio/Coshocton) each turned in 27-hole rounds of four over par (112), which earned them a tie for sixth place.  Nick Weideling (Los Gatos, Ca./Los Gatos) finished four shots behind Fox and Davis, when he turned in a round of eight over par (116).  

Jeffrey Mitchell (Painesville, Ohio/Lake Catholic) added to the performance when he turned in a 27-hole round of 12 over par.  Dylan Tucker (Strasburg, Ohio/Strasburg) finished on shot, behind Mitchell with a 27-hole score of 13 over par.

Austin Meese (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) and Noah Turek (Clinton, Pa./South Side Area) rounded out the day for the Pioneers.  Meese turned in a round of 18 over par, and Turek carded a 27-hole total of 20 over par.  

The Pioneers will return to the course Saturday (April 17) when they compete in at NorthStar Golf Club.
