3/30/2021 12:32:00 PM

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Marietta College senior Alex Dimon (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) was named U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's Division III Track Athlete of the Week Tuesday (March 30) morning.  This is Dimon's first USTFCCCA Track Athlete of the Week honor for the outdoor season.

Dimon competed at Mount Union on Saturday (March 27).  He won the 110-meter hurdles as he crossed the line in a time of 14.37 seconds.  Dimon's time of 14.37 currently ranks as the fastest time in NCAA Division III this season.

Dimon added to his performance at Mount Union with a second-place finish in the 4x400 relay with the help of his teammates, Tyler Walker (Cambridge, Ohio/John Glenn), Evan Kieffer (Cheswick, Pa. /Fox Chapel Area), and Lane Wilson (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster).  Dimon rounded out his day with a third-place finish in the 400 meters, with a time of 49.77 seconds.

In addition to having the top 110-hurdle time in Division III, Dimon also holds the top spot in the 400-meter hurdles, he set the mark of 53.40 seconds, Sunday (March 21) at the OAC Opener.

This is the first time in program history that a student-athlete from Marietta has been named National Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season.

Marietta will return to the track Friday (April 2) when they travel to compete in the Sparky Adams Invitational, hosted by Baldwin Wallace University.
