ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Marietta College Track and field team competed at the University of Mount Union on Saturday (March 27) afternoon.
"We had a decent day today. A few event wins, several people making the finals," said Head Coach
Jason Davis. We made several improvements from last week. I am pretty excited about what we can do in the coming weeks."
The Marietta women were led by
Laura Pullins (Long Bottom, Ohio/Reedsville Eastern), she won the high jump when she cleared a height of 1.67 meters.
Kasey Neville (Belington, W.Va./Philip Barbour) added the second event win of the day for the women in the shot put. Neville won the event with a throw of 12.43 meters.
Annie Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) and
Brooke Huffman (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) added to the shot put performance with throws of 11.14 meters and 10.74 meters, to earn fourth and sixth place respectively.
Allison Loase (Bethesda, Ohio/Union Local) and
Alexis Pennell (East Canton, Ohio/East Canton) each cleared a height of 3.20 meters. Loase earned third place and Pennell brought home fourth place honors.
Kaitlin Kobuszewski (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) threw the javelin a distance of 32.69 meters, to earn third place honors. Kobuszewski rounded out her day with a seventh-place finish in the women's long jump, when she cleared a distance of 4.62 meters.
Neville added to her day in the hammer throw. Neville cleared a distance of 43.30 meters to earn fourth place. Priest finished directly behind Neville, in fifth place with a throw of 42.74 meters.
Huffman earned a fifth-place finish in the discus, with a throw of 38.23 meters.
Gracie Yates (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) pitched in with a seventh-place finish in the triple jump, she earned her spot with a jump of 9.43 meters.
Alex Dimon (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) notched the first win of the day for the men, he won the 110 hurdles in a time of 14.37 seconds. His time of 14.37 seconds is the top time in NCAA Division III this season. Dimon rounded out his day with a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash, he crossed the finish line in a time of 49.77 seconds.
The men's 4x400 meter relay team of
Tyler Walker (Cambridge, Ohio/John Glenn),
Evan Kieffer (Cheswick, Pa. /Fox Chapel Area), Wilson, and Dimon earned second place honors, with a time of 3:28.52 minutes.
Lane Wilson (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) added to the men's performance with a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter, Wilson finished in a time of 1:59.15 minutes.
Reese Worship (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) cleared a distance of 34.47 meters, to earn fifth place honors in the javelin. Worship closed his day with a throw of 12.13 meters, to earn seventh place honors in the shot put.
Marietta will return to the track Friday (April 2) when they travel to compete at Baldwin Wallace University.
