Track and Field competes at OAC Opener

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College track and field team hosted the OAC Opener meet at Don Drumm Stadium on Sunday (March 21) afternoon.  The women's team placed fourth with 81 points, and the men placed seventh with 56.5 points.  

Head Coach Jason Davis said, "Overall we had a good day today.  We are hoping for some good things from both squads in the coming weeks."

The Marietta women were led by Laura Pullins (Long Bottom, Ohio/Reedsville Eastern).  Pullins earned a win the women's high jump when she cleared a height of 1.67 meters (5'5.75").  

Kasey Neville (Belington, W.Va./Philip Barbour) notched the second event win for the Marietta women in the shot put, when she cleared a distance of 12.58 meters (41'3.25").  Annie Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) took home fourth place in the shot put with a throw of 11.17 meters (36'7.75").  

Kaitlin Kobuszewski (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) earned a second-place finish in the women's long jump when she cleared a distance of 4.78 meters (15'8.25").  Kobuszewski grabbed a second place finish in the javelin with a throw of 32.11 meters (105'4").     

Alexis Pennell (East Canton, Ohio/East Canton) and Allison Loase (Bethesda, Ohio/Union Local) each cleared 3.23 meters (10'7") in the women's pole vault.  Pennell took home third place and Loase earned fourth place in the pole vault.  

Gracie Yates (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) cleared a distance of 4.61 meters (15'1.50") in the women's long jump to take home fifth place.  

Kobuszewski added to her day with a sixth-place finish in the women's 100 meter dash with a time of 13.47 seconds.  Kobuszewski notched her second sixth place finish of the day in the 200 meters in a time of 27.55 seconds.

Fredley Tynan (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) notched a sixth place finish in the women's 5,000 meters, she crossed the finish line in a time of 22:47.15 minutes.    

The Pioneer men were led by Alex Dimon (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge).  Dimon won the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.00 seconds.  Dimon notched his second win of the day in the 400-meter hurdles, when he broke the tape in a time of 53.40 seconds, which is a personal best.    

Braeden Wallace (Elkton, Va./East Rockingham) notched a third-place finish in the men's 10,000 meters, when he crossed the line in a time of 33:31.24 minutes.
 
Lane Wilson (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) finished the men's 1,500 meters in a time of 4:13.66 minutes to earn third place honors.   Wilson tallied a fourth-place finish in the men's 800 meters, as he crossed the finish line in a time of 1:58.90 minutes.  

AJ Sallee (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) earned a fifth-place finish in the men's 100-meter dash, when he crossed the finish line in a time of 11.25 seconds.  

Tyler Walker (Cambridge, Ohio/John Glenn) added a fifth-place finish in the men's 400 meters with a time of 53.17 seconds. Evan Kieffer (Cheswick, Pa. /Fox Chapel Area) finished on the heels of Walker in a time of 53.21 seconds for sixth place.

Jake Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) added a sixth place showing to the men's performance when he cleared a distance of 44.21 meters (145') in the men's hammer throw.  

Marietta will return to the track Saturday (March 27) when they travel to compete at the University of Mount Union.
