ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Marietta College track and field team competed at the University of Mount Union on Saturday (Feb. 20) afternoon. The women finished in third place with 76 points, and the men finished in fourth place with 41 points.
"We had some solid performances today. I feel like we are rounding into form at the right time with a couple of weeks before conference," said Head Coach
Jason Davis. "Our athletes have bought into the program and it is starting to show."
The Marietta women were led by the performance in the women's weight throw.
Kasey Neville (Belington, W.Va./Philip Barbour) earned her first win of the day when she cleared a distance of 14.89 meters (48'10.25").
Annie Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) finished right behind her teammate in second place with a throw of 14.49 meters (47'6.25").
Neville notched her second win of the day in the women's shot put. Neville won the event with a throw of 12.41 meters (40'8.75"). Priest threw a distance of 11.92 meters (39'1.75") to earn third place honors in the shot put.
Laura Pullins (Long Bottom, Ohio/Reedsville Eastern) added to the winning ways for the Pioneers with a win in the women's high jump. Pullins earned the event win with a jump of 1.66 meters (5'5.25").
Cali Barnes-Pierotti (Gallipolis, Ohio/Gallia Academy ) capped the high jump performance with a seventh-place finish, with a jump of 1.40 meters (4'7").
Baylee Brown (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) turned in a solid performance in the women's pole vault, when she cleared a personal best height of 3.51 meters (11'6.25") to finish in second place.
Allison Loase (Bethesda, Ohio/Union Local) and
Alexis Pennell (East Canton, Ohio/East Canton) tied for fifth place, as they each cleared a height of 3.21 meters (10'6.25").
Brown added to her performance with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump. Brown cleared a distance of 9.23 meters (30'3.5").
Gracie Yates (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) rounded out the triple jump showing, when she cleared 8.83 meters (28''11.75"), to earn sixth place.
Kaitlin Kobuszewski (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) crossed the finish line in a time of 8.47 seconds in the 60-meter dash, to earn sixth place.
The men were led by
Lane Wilson (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster). Wilson notched an event win the men's 800-meter race, when he broke the tape in a personal best time of 2:00.05 minutes.
Jake Priest (Frazeysburg, Ohio/Tri-Valley) earned a third-place finish in the men's weight throw with a distance of 15.34 meters (50'4"). The throw of 15.34 meters set a personal best for Priest.
Reese Worship (Euclid, Ohio/Euclid) notched a solid performance in the men's shot put, when he cleared 13.26 meters (43'6"), which earned him a is a personal best distance and a third-place finish.
AJ Sallee (Columbus, Ohio/St. Francis DeSales) added a third-place finish in the men's 60-meter dash, as he finished the race in a time of 7.23 seconds.
The men's 1,600 meter relay team of
Luke Wallace (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview Heights),
Tyler Walker (Cambridge, Ohio/John Glenn),
Evan Kieffer (Cheswick, Pa. /Fox Chapel Area), and Wilson, combined to run a time of 3:39.89 minutes, to earn third place honors.
Braeden Wallace (Elkton, Va./East Rockingham) earned a fourth-place finish in the men's 3,000 meter race, when he crossed the line in time of 8:57.90 minutes.
Luke Wallace (Columbus, Ohio/Grandview Heights) added a fifth-place finish in the men's high jump, when he cleared a height of 1.70 meters (5'7").
The track and field team will be back in action Sunday (Feb. 28) when they travel to compete at Capital University.
