MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's rowing team hosted Adrian and Robert Morris on the Muskingum River Saturday (Oct. 16) morning. It was a clean sweep for the Pioneers as the Navy Blue and White won each of the three races.
"The team has grown in consistency, power, and confidence over the past few weeks, which was evident today, "Marietta head coach
Abby Lord said. "All boats put out a great effort and found a new level. Many thanks to Adrian college and RMU for a great day of racing."
First on the water was the varsity 8+ crews. Marietta won the 6,000-meter race with a time of 21:45.1, 45 seconds faster than Robert Morris (22:29.5). The Colonials second shell posted a time of 25:37.4 to finish third.
In the 6,000-meter varsity 4+ race, the Pioneers crossed the line in 24:02.8, well over a minute ahead of second place Adrian (25:16.4). Marietta B (25:35.0) placed third followed by Robert Morris (25:36.6).
The final race of the day was a 4,000-meter novice 4+ duel between Marietta and Robert Morris. The Pioneers completed the sweep with a winning time of 17:46.8. Robert Morris finished in 20:01.8.
Marietta closes out the fall race schedule next weekend at the Head of the Charles in Boston, Massachusetts.
