MOON TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania — The Marietta College women's rowing team competed in the Yinzer Cup Saturday (Oct. 19) morning on the Ohio River. The Pioneers entered crews in the varsity 4+, novice 4+ and varsity 8+ races.
"The Novice 4 started the day off well with a win over RMU's novices. They rowed a consistent, focused race," Marietta head coach Abby Klicker said. "The Varsity 4 and Varsity 8 held their own in a competitive field of Division I schools. We are looking forward to racing next Sunday at home on the Muskingum."
The Pioneers started the day with a victory over Robert Morris in the two-boat novice 4+ race. Marietta crossed the line in 14:32:797, two minutes ahead of RMU's 16:32:380.

Robert Morris won the varsity 4+ race with a time 11:50:957. West Virginia was second with a time of 11:51:890, followed by George Mason (11:57:217), West Virginia "B" (12:14:293), Robert Morris "B" (12:19:713), Canisius (12:29:967), Canisius "B" (12:31:323), Marietta (12:50:507), Robert Morris "C" (13:14:100), Robert Morris "D" (13:38:597) and George Mason "B" (13:49:993).

George Mason won the varsity 8+ race with a time of 10:23:807. Canisius was close behind crossing the line in 10:34:620, followed by West Virginia (10:41:700), Robert Morris (11:00:313), George Mason "B" (11:21:527), Marietta (11:30:783), Canisius "B" (11:34:287) and Robert Morris "B" (11:34:323).
The Marietta varsity 8+ lineup included coxswain Facchinato-Sitja, Guhde at stroke, Krajewski, Frueh, McIntyre, Stek, Durham, Russell and Wadih in the bow.
Marietta returns home to host the Muskie Challenge on Sunday (Oct. 27).
