MARIETTA, Ohio — Capital University posted a 9-0 win over Marietta College in men's tennis action Tuesday (April 19) afternoon. The Pioneers fall to 10-15 overall and 1-6 in the OAC. Capital improves to 8-10 on the season and 3-1 in the OAC.
The Crusaders won all three doubles matches to start the afternoon. At No. 1, Dale Booher and Gian Carlo DiMichaelangelo defeated
Shane Spencer (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) and
Drew Stone (Davisville, W.Va./Parkersburg), 8-1. C.J. Martin and Beau Streety were 8-0 winners over
Alex Schaeffer (Louisville, Ohio/Marlington) and
Muhammad Kingson (Williamstown, W.Va./Williamstown) at No. 2, while Luke Buchanan and Jared Judson topped
Tanner Sigman (Winfield, W.Va./Poca) and
Brendan Adkinson (Bellevue, Ohio/Bellevue) at No. 3, 8-3.
Schaeffer battled Martin at No. 1 singles but fell 6-3 and 6-2. Buchanan outlasted Spencer at No. 2, 6-1 and 6-2, while Streety blanked Kingson at No. 3, 6-0 and 6-0.
Sigman fell to Booher at No. 4, 6-1 and 6-0. At No. 5, Santino DiMichaelangelo downed Stone, 6-3 and 6-1. Judson completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 against Adkinson.
