MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College men's tennis team lost its final match of the season to John Carroll University by the score of 9-0 Saturday (April 15). The Pioneers finish with a 3-11 overall record and 0-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Blue Steaks improve to 3-11 overall and 3-1 in the OAC.
The best match of the afternoon came at No. 2 doubles where JCU's Anthony Markello and Kevin Wacnik edged
Spencer Hall (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) and
Elivh Perez (Mexico City, Mexico/Preparatoria Abierta), 8-6. In the top doubles match,
Evan Barker (Washington, W.Va./Parkersburg South) and
Elijah Kuhl (Marietta, Ohio/Wood County Christian (W.Va.)) fell to Logan Langovsky and Grant Sarnowski, 8-1. Phillip Gorun and Nathan Palinkas blanked
George Fazah (Beirut, Lebanon/Adma International School) and
David Frazier (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville) at No. 3, 8-0.
Langovsky took down Perez at No. 1 singles, 6-0 and 6-1. Sarnowski was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at No. 2 against Kuhl, while Barker lost to Markello at No. 3, 6-0 and 6-1.
The Blue Streaks posted 6-0, 6-0 wins in each of the bottom three singles matches. At No. 4, Wacnik beat Hall. Frazier lost to Palinkas at No. 5 and Gorun defeated Fazah at No. 6.
