COLUMBUS, Ohio — Capital University defeated Marietta College in men's tennis Monday (April 20) afternoon by the score of 9-0. The Pioneers fall to 3-12 overall and 0-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Capital remains in the hunt for the OAC title with a 4-1 conference record. The Crusaders are 10-4 overall.
Capital swept the doubles matches for an early 3-0 lead. The No. 1 team of Luke Buchanan and Dale Booher beat
Alex Schaeffer (Louisville/Marlington) and
Tanner Sigman (Winfield, W.Va./Poca), 8-5. At No. 2,
Brendan Adkinson (Bellevue/Bellevue) and
Chase Leisure (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) fell by the score of 8-0 to Kenny Duncan and CJ Martin. Beau Streety and Jared Judson were 8-0 winners over
Drew Stone (Davisville, W.Va./Parkersburg) and
Jon Fitzwater (Rising Sun, Md./Rising Sun) at No. 3.
Buchanan took the No. 1 singles match against Schaeffer, 6-2 and 6-0. Booher downed Sigman at No. 2, 6-0 and 6-0, while Duncan defeated
Justin McGinnis (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area) at No. 3, 6-1 and 6-0.
CJ Martin notched a 6-0, 6-1 win over Brendan Adkin at No. 4. Gian Carlo DiMichaelangelo beat Leisure, 6-0 and 6-2, at No. 5, while Jesse Faulkner completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 against Stone.
