Box ScoreWESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Marietta College men's tennis team fell to Otterbein University by the score of 9-0 Tuesday (April 1) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference action. The Pioneers fall to 2-6 overall and 0-1 in the OAC. Otterbein improves to 9-3 on the season and 2-0 in league play.
The Cardinals led 3-0 after doubles play. Will Willson and David Seckel took the No. 1 match against
Alex Schaeffer (Louisville/Marlington) and
Karl Grant (Elmhurst, Ill./York), 8-1. Ryan Shutt and Zach McDivitt were 8-0 winners over
Tanner Sigman (Winfield, W.Va./Poca) and
Justin McGinnis (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area) at No. 2, while Jacon Devore and Sam Lawless posted an 8-3 decision at No. 3 against
Teddy Daub (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) and
Brendan Adkinson (Bellevue/Bellevue).
Otterbein swept the six singles matches in straight sets. Willson downed Schaeffer at No. 1, 6-3 and 6-0. Shutt posted a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 over Daub, while Seckel beat Grant at No. 3, 6-1 and 6-1.
At No. 4 singles, Kendall Coffman defeated Sigman, 6-0 and 6-1. McGinnis fell to McDivitt at No. 5 by the same 6-0, 6-1 score. Ben Keen completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against
Chase Leisure (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) at No. 6.
