Box Score MARIETTA, Ohio – Centre College (Ky.) defeated Marietta College by the score of 5-0 Sunday (Sept. 15) afternoon in women's soccer action. The Colonels scored two first half goals and then added three more in the second period.
Marietta (2-3 overall) was limited to just one shot by Centre's swarming defense. The Colonels (5-1-1 overall) held possession of the ball for most of the match and finished with 21 total shots, including 10 on frame.
Senior Morgan Collins scored the first goal of the match in the 12th minute of play. Collins dribbled into the six-yard box and had her shot deflect off the Marietta keeper and in for the goal.
Centre freshman Shannon Murray made it 2-0 with an unassisted goal in the 31st minute. Murray took the ball into the 18-yard box and fired a shot into the lower right corner for her first career goal.

Kaitlyn Pearse (Galena/Olentangy Orange) wne the distance in net and made five saves.
Freshman Megan Sherwood scored her first two collegiate goals early in the second half. Sherwood tallied an unassisted goal at 50:02 and then scored off an assist from Collins in the 58th minute. Freshman Madeline Loftus made it 5-0 with her first career goal in the 74th minute.
Centre split the match in goal. Sophomore Holly Hinton played the first 45 minutes, while senior Olivia Alford played the second half. Neither needed to make a save in the match.
