BETHANY, W.Va. – The Marietta College men's tennis team won its third straight match Monday (March 25) afternoon. The Pioneers defeated Bethany College (W.Va.) by the score of 9-0. [

With the poor playing conditions outside due to the recent snowfall, the match was played indoors at Bethany's Johnson Recreation Center. Marietta improves to 4-2 overall, while Bethany falls to 1-2 on the season.
The Pioneers swept doubles for an early 3-0 lead.
Ashton Whiteleather (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) and
Alex Schaeffer (Louisville/Marlington) posted an 8-4 win at No. 1 over Bethany's James Peterson and Dustin Maiolo.
Teddy Daub (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) and
Karl Grant (Elmhurst, Ill./York) downed Jared Roque and Kyle Booker by the schore of 8-2, while
Andy Knauff (Valencia, Pa./Mars Area) and
Tanner Sigman (Winfield, W.Va./Poca) dispatched Dakota Maravelis and Dylan Schooley, 8-3.
Whiteleather, Daub and Grant each posted straight-set wins in singles play. Playing No. 1, Whiteleather beat Peterson 6-2 and 6-0. Daub notched a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 over Maiolo and Grant downed Booker at No. 5, 6-1 and 6-3.
With the match decided, the remaining three singles played pro-sets. Schaeffer was an 8-3 winner at No. 2 against Maravelis. At No. 4, Knauff downed Roque, 8-1, while
Taimur Ahmed (Islamabad, Pakistan/Froebels International) recorded an 8-1 ein at No. 6 over Schooley.
